We have always thought that the invention of the light bulb should be directly attributed to Thomas Alva Edison, but its design was not a completely original idea. Therefore, it would be inappropriate to give sole credit for this important invention to a single person.

After many creative and always innovative efforts, it wasn’t until January 27, 1880, that the patent was granted, number 223,898, for the first incandescent electric light bulb, the work of Heinrich Gobel. Other inventors had also developed models that worked in the laboratory, including Joseph Swan, Henry Woodward, Mathew Evans, James Bowman Lindsay, William Sawyer, and Humphry Davy.

Edison’s great contribution was the improvement of Gobel’s proposal and Joseph Swan’s patent. But the most important was the introduction of the first low-cost incandescent light bulb.

Today, we have great technological advances such as LED lighting and many other highly efficient aesthetic expressions; But our lamps are definitely the only accessories that are part of our family heritage, because they recreate and illuminate our homes and create memories. Repairing our lamps is caring for our environments; it is caring for what is most precious to us: our legacy over time.
